How to access on Fynd Commerce

Commerce Panel → Sales Channel (select application) → Configuration → Channel Capabilities

Introduction

Channel Capabilities lets you define how your sales channel works — including what type of commerce you support, who can sell, and how orders are created and fulfilled.

You can use this to control storefront behavior, order flow, and available order sources for your channel.

Commerce Models

The Commerce Models section defines what type of business model your channel supports. You can select one or more of the following:

  • B2C / D2C – For selling directly to customers through your storefront or stores
  • B2B – For business customers with bulk orders and custom pricing

The selected commerce model affects how your storefront behaves, including pricing, order flow, and customer experience.

Changing the commerce model

Switching between commerce models (for example, B2C to B2B) is a major change. When you make this change:

  • A confirmation popup is shown
  • You must confirm the change before proceeding

The popup explains what will be updated, such as:

  • Theme changes
  • Access to B2B features
  • Pricing and configuration updates

Click Confirm Change, and then click Save to apply the update.

Business Format

The Business Format defines how your business operates and how orders are fulfilled. You can select one of the following:

  • Standard Commerce – Regular retail with standard delivery timelines
  • Quick Commerce – Fast delivery with hyperlocal inventory
  • QSR (Coming Soon) – For restaurant-style operations

This selection is required and defaults to Standard Commerce.

Switching to Quick Commerce

When you switch to Quick Commerce, a confirmation popup is shown. This informs you that:

  • Your channel configuration will change
  • Additional delivery and fulfillment options will be enabled
  • Certain setup steps are required

After confirming and saving:

  • You must complete additional setup steps to fully enable Quick Commerce
  • Until setup is complete, the channel may not be fully ready for Quick Commerce operations

Order Source Governance

This section controls where orders can come from for your channel. If a source is disabled, orders from that source are blocked before checkout or order creation.

Storefront type

The Storefront Type defines whether your channel can accept orders from a web storefront. This setting is automatically determined based on your selected commerce model, but you can control whether the storefront is active.

D2C Storefront

The D2C Storefront represents your customer-facing website.

  • When enabled, customers can place orders through your storefront
  • When disabled, order creation from the storefront is blocked

You can turn this on or off using the toggle.

How storefront type is set

The storefront type is derived from your channel configuration. For example:

  • If your commerce model is B2C / D2C, the storefront type is set to D2C Storefront

This value is automatically set and cannot be manually changed.

Order channel name

You can define the Order Channel Name for the storefront.

  • This name is used to identify orders coming from the storefront
  • You can edit it using the edit icon

Example: storefront

If the storefront is disabled:

  • Customers will not be able to place orders from your website
  • Order creation from the storefront will be blocked

Additional order sources

You can enable or disable additional order sources for your channel.

Available options include:

  • Point of Sale (POS) – Orders placed from store terminals
  • Self Checkout Kiosk – Orders placed through kiosks
  • Scan & Go – Mobile-based scanning and checkout

You can enable multiple sources at the same time.

Order source behavior

  • If an order source is enabled, orders can be created from that source
  • If an order source is disabled, order placement is blocked from that source

Orders are blocked before checkout or order creation if the source is disabled.

You may see messages like:

  • Website: Ordering is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.
  • Kiosk: Self-checkout is unavailable right now. Please place your order at the counter.
  • Scan & Go: Scan & Go is unavailable. You can still check out using the counter or kiosk.
  • POS: Order placement is currently disabled for this store.

Orders from disabled sources are blocked at runtime. Make sure all required sources are enabled before going live.

Save your changes

After updating your configuration, click Save at the top of the page.

  • Changes are applied only after saving
  • Some changes may take time to apply
  • You will be notified if the update is successful or requires action
