# Attribute Guidelines

There are some mandatory attributes that must be filled in while creating the listings.

The following attributes are not mandatory but are good to have:

## Optional attributes

Apart from these attributes, there are some category-specific optional attributes for discoverability, product enrichment, compliance, fulfillment detail etc.
Filling out these optional attributes increases the chances of listing approval and product discoverability.

### Product type attributes

* Amazon has added new product types and added relevant attributes in the listing.
* You can provide these attributes by editing your products via **Manage Inventory** or by updating listings in bulk.
* Providing these attributes will increase the quality of the product detail.


### Updating attribute details for listings

To update attributes for a single ASIN:

* On the seller central home page, select **Inventory > Manage Inventory**.
* Select the ASIN you want to update and click **Edit**.
* Fill in the details that you wish to update and click **Save and Finish**.


Net Content, Item Form and Number of Items were previously listed as optional but are now mandatory, and can be updated in the Manage Inventory > Edit > More Details and  Manage Inventory > Edit > Vital Info tabs.

### Footwear size attributes

* For a better understanding of the product and buying experience, it is recommended that the footwear sizes be in (Size UK) format.
* It is required to update all the SKUs and ASINs to follow the same nomenclature (size_name and size_map).
* If the SKUs and ASINs do not follow the nomenclature as suggested, Amazon updates them in the back end in a scalable and systematic format.

### HSN attributes

* HSN code is a mandatory attribute that needs to be provided for the listings.
* HSN code can be updated either one by one or by bulk upload using the template provided.

### Expiration attributes

* Expiry date must be in DDMMYY or MMYY format.
* Production date and shelf life (best before XX months or days).
