Commerce Panel → Sales Channel (select application) → Configuration → Payments → (select payment gateway or payment extension) → Default Offer Classification
Bank-brand offer attribution lets you control how a bank-brand offer discount is treated on the invoice when the payment gateway does not return an explicit attribution for the transaction. The classification flows into the invoice raised to the customer, the GST computed on the order, the GSTR-1 return, and the IRN payload. You can configure this default independently for every payment gateway or payment extension configured on a sales channel. Changes made to one payment gateway do not affect the others.
Before configuring bank-brand offer attribution, ensure that:
- You have permission to manage payment settings.
- The payment gateway or payment extension you want to configure is already added to the sales channel.
The Default Offer Classification section defines how a bank-brand offer discount is attributed on the invoice when the payment gateway does not return an explicit attribution. You can choose:
- Bank: the offer amount is borne by the bank and shown as a bank discount on the invoice. GST applies to the full order value.
- Brand: the offer amount is borne by the brand and shown as a brand discount on the invoice. GST applies to the net amount paid.
If you do not select a default classification, the system uses Brand by default. To set the default offer classification:
- From the Default Offer dropdown, select Bank or Brand.
- Select Save.
The selected classification applies only to future transactions processed through that payment gateway or payment extension. Existing orders and invoices are not affected.
Consider an order value of ₹1,000 with a ₹200 discount applied through a bank–brand offer, on a payment gateway that does not return an explicit attribution.
| Default offer classification | Invoice treatment | GST calculated on |
|---|---|---|
| Bank | The discount is shown as a bank discount on the invoice. | ₹1,000 |
| Brand | The discount is shown as a brand discount on the invoice. | ₹800 |
If you have more than one payment gateway or payment extension configured on a sales channel, repeat the steps for each. Every payment gateway or extension holds its own default independently, so different funder arrangements across gateways stay accurate on the same store.
After you finish configuring bank-brand offer attribution:
- Review your selection in the Default Offer dropdown.
- Select Save.
The updated configuration is applied to future eligible orders processed through that payment gateway or extension.
