# Coupons as loyalty rewards

Fynd Engage does not currently support loyalty-linked, user-specific coupon creation. When a partner needs to issue a customer-scoped coupon as a reward, create the coupon directly through the Fynd Commerce API and restrict it to the target customer.

Current integration path
Coupon creation is handled by Fynd Commerce until Engage supports loyalty-native, user-specific coupon issuance

## Create a customer-scoped coupon

Use Cart.createCoupon ↗ from the Fynd Commerce Platform SDK to:

1. Create the coupon on Fynd Commerce.
2. Apply the per-user restriction for the target customer.
3. Record the coupon and customer association in the partner system.
4. Track coupon creation and usage through commerce webhooks.

Subscribe to these events to reconcile coupon issuance and redemption:

| Coupon created | application/coupon/create/v1 ↗ | Confirm that the reward coupon was created and reconcile it against the customer. |
| Coupon redeemed | application/coupon/redeem/v1 ↗ | Detect coupon use, close the reward, and update the loyalty state. |


## Processing behavior

- **On coupon creation:** Store the commerce coupon identifier, customer association, reward reference, and current issuance state.
- **On coupon redemption:** Mark the reward as consumed and prevent the partner system from issuing or applying it again.
