Categories
Overview
Only Brand Admin and Brand Supervisor can create and edit categories.
Categories are used to organize products based on shared characteristics, making it easier for customers to navigate and discover relevant items. They serve as the foundation for structuring your online store and play a key role in improving product visibility and searchability.
Navigation
To navigate to the Category page:
- Click the Taxonomy tab.
- Select the Categories tab.
Creating a Category
To create a new category in AI PIM, follow these steps:
- In the top-right corner, click
Create Category
. - Fill in the following fields:
Field | Description |
---|---|
Category Code | Enter a unique identifier (numeric, alphabetic, or alphanumeric) to distinguish this category. |
Category Name | Enter a name for the category (e.g., Footwear). |
Tags | Add relevant tags for easier categorization and filtering. (Refer to Tags for more details.) |
Category Image | Upload up to 5 images to visually represent the category. You can: • Click Choose File to upload from your device • Use Upload via URL • Drag and drop images Accepted file types: .png , .jpg , .jpeg , .bmp , .webp |
Custom Meta (JSON) | Enter custom metadata in JSON format for additional configuration or third-party integration needs. |
- Click Save. A success message will confirm that the category has been created.
Updating a Category
After creating a category, you may need to update its details such as the name, tags, images, or metadata. To update a category, follow these steps:
Find the category you want to update. Click the pencil icon on the right.
Make the necessary changes.
Click Save Template.
- A success notification will appear confirming the category has been updated.
The Category Code is locked and cannot be edited.
Deleting a Category
To delete a category, please follow these steps:
- Locate the Category
Scroll through the list (or use the search bar) to find the category you wish to remove. - Delete the Category
Click the 🗑️ (bin) icon at the far right of the category’s row. - Confirm Deletion
When prompted, confirm that you want to delete the category. A confirmation message will appear once the deletion is successful.
Deleted categories cannot be recovered. If you think you may need this category again, consider exporting its data before deletion.
