Logistics panel → Courier Partners → Shipping Rules
Shipping Rules is where you configure how courier partners are automatically selected for every shipment. Instead of manually picking a courier each time, you define rules and priorities that the platform evaluates automatically.
You can access it from Courier Partners → Shipping Rules.
Note: If you are a Fynd Commerce user, selecting Shipping Rules will redirect you to Fynd Commerce where you can create and manage your shipping rules.
Shipping Rules has two parts: Courier Partner Priority and Custom Shipping Rules.
Courier Partner Priority is a drag-and-drop ordering that determines how the platform decides which courier partner to use when multiple are eligible. There are four options:
| Priority | How it works |
|---|---|
| Fastest | Picks the courier partner with the shortest expected delivery time |
| Manual | Picks from a user-curated, ordered list of preferred courier partners |
| Cheapest | Picks the lowest-cost courier partner (coming soon) |
| AI Based | Uses the platform's ML model based on historical performance (coming soon) |
Drag the priority options into the order you want. The first one is applied by default; if there is a tiebreaker, the next priority in the order is used.
For Manual priority to work, you must first add courier partners to it. Select the gear icon on the Manual card to open the Manual Courier Priority sidebar:
- Available tab - search and add courier partners to your manual list.
- Selected tab - drag to reorder, or select X to remove a courier partner.
Select Save Priority when done. After any change to the priority order, select Save Priority at the top of the Courier Partner Priority section to apply the new order.
Custom Shipping Rules are conditional rules that override the default priority for specific scenarios. Each rule has a name, one or more conditions, a list of courier partners to use when the rule matches, and an assignment priority for those courier partners.
Rules are listed under the Active and Inactive tabs. Active rules are numbered in order of execution priority - rule #1 is checked first. You can drag and drop to reorder active rules. The new order is staged in the UI and only applied when you select Confirm Priority in the banner that appears at the top of the list.
Select Create Custom Rule. The form is a three-step sheet.
Step 1 - Define Rule
Enter a rule name and add one or more conditions. For each condition, select a parameter from the dropdown and specify the value:
| Condition | What it filters by |
|---|---|
| Forward Journey Location | Destination country and pincode |
| Reverse Journey Location | Return location |
| Modes of Payment | COD, Prepaid, or both |
| Selling Location | The warehouse or store the order ships from |
| Selling Location Tags | By location tag |
| Selling Location Types | By location type - Warehouse, Highstreet, Mall, etc. |
| Shipment Weight (in gm) | A weight range with Min and Max values |
| Shipment Volumetric Weight (in gm) | A volumetric weight range with Min and Max values |
| Shipment Value | A value range in your base currency |
Most multi-select conditions open a popover with search, Select all, and Clear options.
Step 2 - Select Partners
Search for courier partners and tick the ones to include in this rule. Select Select all (N) to select all currently visible partners. Selections persist across searches.
Step 3 - Set Assignment Priority
Drag the selected courier partners into the order you want them tried. The platform uses the first courier partner that can service the shipment, then falls back to the next, and so on.
Select Save to create the rule. It appears immediately in the Active list.
Select the three-dot menu on any rule to access the following options:
- Edit - reopens the rule sheet pre-filled with the current values.
- Deactivate / Activate - moves the rule between the Active and Inactive tabs. A confirmation dialog appears.
Deactivated rules are kept for audit and can be re-activated at any time. There is no delete option.
When a shipment is created, the platform evaluates rules in the following order:
- All active custom shipping rules are checked in the order shown. If a rule's conditions match the shipment, the platform uses the courier partners specified in that rule, in the priority order defined within it.
- If no custom rule matches, the platform falls back to the Courier Partner Priority - Fastest, Manual, or another option - that you have configured.
- Within each rule or priority, courier partners are tried from top to bottom until one accepts the shipment.
Example: For all COD orders over ₹10,000 going to Mumbai, only use Delhivery and BlueDart, in that order. For everything else, use the fastest available courier partner.
